- Tiféret es donde se centra la mayor parte del trabajo saludable. Si una lectura nunca toca la esfera del corazón, probablemente sea una abstracción.
- El vicio de una esfera suele ser su virtud desbordada, no su opuesto. La tiranía de Chesed es la generosidad que dejó de preguntar.
- Daath, la undécima oculta, no es una sefirá. Trátala como el vacío de conocimiento que atraviesas, en lugar de un lugar donde establecerte.
- Dedica una página por sefirá en un cuaderno y complétala durante un año. Esa es toda la pedagogía tradicional.

El Árbol de la Vida es un diagrama del misticismo judío. Sus diez sefirot aparecen en el Sefer Yetzirah, se elaboran en el Zohar del siglo XIII y adquieren su disposición familiar en el siglo XVI con la escuela de Isaac Luria en Safed. En la práctica judía, es una teología de cómo una divinidad infinita se convierte en un mundo finito, no una prueba de personalidad.
Lo que la mayoría de los esoteristas occidentales utilizan es una adaptación posterior. Desde Pico della Mirandola en adelante, escritores cristianos y luego ocultistas injertaron planetas clásicos, elementos y, finalmente, el Tarot en las diez esferas. La Orden Hermética de la Golden Dawn fijó la versión utilizada hoy, asignando las veintidós letras hebreas y los veintidós arcanos mayores a los veintidós senderos.
Ese sincretismo merece ser nombrado claramente. Las correspondencias del Tarot son victorianas, no cabalísticas, y muchos practicantes judíos consideran el préstamo ocultista como un mal uso de una tradición religiosa viva. Usado honestamente —como un mapa del movimiento psicológico y espiritual—, sigue siendo uno de los sistemas de archivo más duraderos jamás ideados.
