The Courses

Reference pages answer a question you already have. Courses give you the questions. Each one runs in order, ends with an exercise, and links back to the tools where you can practise.

Read a Birth Chart

From ten glyphs to a paragraph that sounds like a person

Six lessons that take you from an intimidating wheel of symbols to a chart reading you could say out loud without notes. No maths beyond arithmetic, and no memorisation of tables.

  • · Name every symbol on a chart wheel and say what it governs
  • · Combine planet, sign and house into one clear sentence
  • · Spot the three or four placements that actually carry a chart

Tarot From Scratch

Seventy-eight cards without memorising seventy-eight meanings

A structural approach to the deck. Learn four suits, ten numbers and four courts, and the Minor Arcana stops being a wall of images. Then learn to read cards in relation to each other, which is where actual reading begins.

  • · Derive any Minor Arcana meaning from suit plus number
  • · Read the Major Arcana as one continuous story
  • · Handle reversals without dread or superstition

Cycles and Timing

Transits, returns and progressions as one coherent clock

The natal chart says what; timing says when. This course covers the transit hierarchy, the return cycles that structure a life, and secondary progressions — plus how to talk about timing without pretending to predict.

  • · Rank transits by weight instead of reacting to all of them
  • · Date your Saturn, Jupiter and nodal returns
  • · Read the progressed Moon as a two-and-a-half-year mood cycle

Building a Daily Practice

Small, repeatable, and durable enough to survive a bad month

Most practices fail from over-design rather than lack of sincerity. Five lessons on building something small enough to keep, tracking it honestly, and knowing when to change it.

  • · Design a practice under ten minutes that survives a hard week
  • · Track mood, energy and clarity without turning it into a chore
  • · Read your own records for pattern rather than judgement

In short

Four structured courses with graded lessons, exercises and self-checks: read a birth chart, learn tarot from scratch, work with cycles and timing, and build a daily practice.

  • Twenty minutes a day beats a three-hour weekend session; spaced study is the single best-evidenced learning technique there is.
  • Read every lesson against one real chart or one real deck — abstract study of a symbolic system produces vagueness.
  • The Beginner courses are genuinely for beginners. Starting at Advanced usually means relearning the foundations later.
  • Keep the glossary open in another tab for the first two lessons of any course.

Astrology was taught as a formal curriculum for most of its history. It sat inside the quadrivium alongside arithmetic, geometry and music, was examined at Bologna and Padua, and was a requirement for physicians in several European cities well into the seventeenth century. Learning it meant years of sequenced study, not browsing.

The modern situation is the opposite. Almost all esoteric material now arrives as isolated fragments — a card meaning, a sign description, a transit warning — with no order and no way to tell a foundation from a flourish. That is why so many people know a hundred keywords and still cannot read a chart.

A course reverses the order. It decides what you need first, makes you do something with it before moving on, and connects each idea to the tool where it is used. The content here is the same material as the reference pages; the difference is sequence, exercises, and the assumption that you intend to become competent rather than merely informed.

Questions Readers Ask

Do I need any background?

No. The Beginner courses assume nothing beyond knowing your own birth date.

How long does a course take?

Between one and three hours of reading, best spread over a week or two with the exercises done properly.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, in your own browser. It is not uploaded anywhere and will not follow you to another device.

Which course should I start with?

Read a Birth Chart if you came for astrology, Tarot From Scratch if you came for cards, Building a Daily Practice if you came for routine.
