The daily horoscope column is barely a century old. It began in 1930, when the Sunday Express asked R. H. Naylor to write about the newborn Princess Margaret; the piece was popular, the paper asked for more, and the sun-sign column was invented to fill a newspaper slot rather than to answer an astrological question.

Traditional astrology never worked this way. A Hellenistic or medieval astrologer read the whole chart against the moving sky, weighted by house rulership and timing techniques, for one person at a time. Dividing humanity into twelve groups by birth month would have struck them as a strange simplification.

The compromise this page makes is to keep the daily rhythm of the column and put the whole chart back underneath it: your Sun for purpose, your Moon for need, your rising sign for how the day meets you, and the transiting Moon's house for where the mood actually lands.

What if I do not know my birth time?

Use midday. The Sun themes and most of the daily transits will hold; the rising sign and house layer become approximate, so weight them lightly.

Why does this differ from my usual horoscope app?

Because it reads your Moon and rising as well as your Sun, and it uses the transiting Moon's house position rather than a single sign-based paragraph.
