Cycles and Timing · Lesson 4 of 4

Talking about timing responsibly

How to say 'this is a hard year' without handing someone a sentence.

7 minute read

Timing work carries the greatest ethical risk in astrology, because a date sounds like a fact. A client who is told that next March is dangerous will spend March braced, and will find evidence. Language does most of the harm here, and language is the fix.

Describe the quality of a period rather than its content. 'This looks like a stretch where commitments get audited' is honest and usable. 'You will lose your job in March' is neither, and is not something any chart supports.

Always name the agency. Transits describe conditions; people make decisions inside them. Offer the period as weather to dress for, not as a verdict already delivered.

Key points

  • · Describe quality, not content
  • · Never attach a specific loss to a specific date
  • · Name agency explicitly in every timing statement

Exercise · Rewrite five

Take five fatalistic timing statements you have read online and rewrite each as weather with agency intact.
