The four core numbers
Each core number has a different input. Confusing the inputs is the most common beginner error in numerology.

Number mysticism predates numerology by millennia — Pythagorean tetraktys, Hebrew gematria, Chinese lo shu squares — but the modern system is young. It was assembled in the United States in the early twentieth century, largely by L. Dow Balliett and Juno Jordan, who fixed the letter-to-number table and the four core positions still used today.
Its appeal is that it needs nothing but a birth date and a name. Its limit is the same: nine root numbers cannot carry the detail a chart carries. The features here treat numerology as a fast, memorable frame and say plainly where it stops.

Which numbers should I calculate first?
Life path, then expression, then soul urge, then personality. Reading them out of order makes the profile sound like four unrelated people.
Do I include a middle name?
Yes, if it is on the birth record. The full legal name at birth is the standard input for the inherited profile.
Is numerology compatible with astrology?
They answer different questions and rarely contradict each other usefully. Use numerology for tempo and theme, astrology for timing and detail.
What is a personal year good for?
Planning. A personal year one is a poor time to consolidate and an excellent time to start; a nine year is the reverse.
